Course information
Term 1, 2012 sees 43 Courses on offer with Courses continuing to be offered in Kempsey, South West Rocks, Stuarts Point and Frederickton. This is a Eight week term, with the majority of classes starting Monday 6th February 2012
KMVU3A members can join any of our courses and you will be warmly welcomed at any course you take. However, some courses have a limit on numbers. This is usually governed by venue size, teaching requirements or equipment limits (e.g. computers). Those courses which have limits on numbers, have the actual number of students who can be accommodated indicated. Where enrolment must be made at an enrolment day in person or by another member, these course have ”No Mail bookings” against their Number Limits.
Acceptance into any course is strictly on a first come, first served basis. Please keep in mind that there are 37 courses running this term and if you miss out on one of your preferred choices, keep your eyes on future Newsletters as most courses are often repeated in other terms. However there are bound to be others which you might find just as fulfilling.
Best wishes for another satisfying year of learning and discovery
Look forward to seeing everyone at Enrolment Day including a Gold Coin donation Morning Tea proceeds in aid of the Saint Vincent De Paul Society is being held in conjunction with Kempsey Macleay RSL Club on Enrolment Day Monday January 30th 2012

FRENCH
The enthusiasm exhibited in the class is very gratifying. Even though by necessity we go through verbs, adjectives & all those other things associated with language, the amount of laughter shows that, besides learning, we are having fun. Some members are beginners, others plan to travel while others merely want to refresh their memories after studying the subject many, many years ago. Don't be shy! Regardless of whether you know or remember anything or nothing, you will be welcome.
FUN WITH FABRIC

CARD MAKING No Mail Bookings
We seem to have run out of time. No time to write letters, no time to visit with friends on Sunday afternoon, no time to gather as a family for a meal together. We don‘t even have time to go shopping for a greeting card – we can just take a couple of seconds and email one. Let‘s take it DOWN a notch. There isn‘t a more precious gift that you could offer to your friends or loved ones than taking the time to create a handmade, personal card. You are not only giving of your time, but you are giving your creativity. In creating this special card, you may find that you are not only giving, but you will also be getting. You will be getting a few minutes of stress–free relaxation as you cut, paste, stamp. You will be getting a special kind of joy that comes with creating art. You will be getting time to think about your friend or loved one as you create a special card.

Five films from various foreign filmmakers, include Argentinean Walter Sailes, and his film Motor Cycle Diaries the story of a road trip through South America by the young Che Gavara. The silent films date from the 1920s and feature some fine examples of German filmmaking Nosferato (1926) is directed by F. W. Murnau, and M (1931) is directed by Fritz Lang and stars Peter Lorre in the film that made his name. From France we have the delightful miniature White Main (1953) directed by Albert Lamourisse and Jean de Florette (1986) directed by Claude Berri, starring Yves Montand and Gerard Depardieu an engrossing morality tale. There is a second film in the series which will be scheduled next term. We have an interesting double from the United Kingdom Saphire a crime story and The Ipcress File dealing with espionage. The term ends with a nice piece of propaganda Hollywood Canteen starring all the Warner Bros contract players and includes a wonderful song by Bette Davis - Theyre either too young or too old. KMVU3A ART COURSE:- Kempsey No Mail Bookings accepted
Paula s Pastels Requirements list available on Enrolment Day This term will be spent exploring the satisfaction that using pastels (chalks) can offer to the artist. Many famous artists, Degas for one, excelled in their usage. As a medium it has a lot to offer and as with oil paints mistakes can be easily rectified. Also, like oils, the layering of one colour over another as in glazing with oils, will teach students a lot about the use of colour and the luminosity that this layering can achieve. As always in these courses each week a renowned artist their life and their work is presented to the class to effect learning techniques from these masters. No Mail Bookings accepted. Enrolments limited - Max 12

Mahjong is held on Monday at Stuarts Point, Tuesday in South West Rocks, Wednesday & Friday in Kempsey. Due to its popularity our numbers will be limited. See Course timetable for individual group limits Members of our group learn to play the ancient game of Mahjong in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. All welcome South West Rocks Last year proved to be quite exciting when Mahjong commenced in South West Rocks. Players are learning more each week and enjoying the challenge of making different combinations of tiles to make that “Mahjongâ€. This term we will be accepting beginners and anyone who has played Mahjong before to join our enthusiastic group up to a maximum of 16 players. Come along and enjoy the fun and learn all about this wonderful game Kempsey - Wednesday Mahjong has a long and puzzling history - it has for centuries been the favourite game of the Chinese, and has evolved an extraordinary number of variations. Although basically a simple game, we have more complicated games - which keep us "on our toes" and the brain working. It is a game of tiles involving skill, strategy, calculation and a certain degree of chance. We welcome beginners in terms 1 and 3 and look forward to new faces in 2012. Kempsey - Mahjong with a Twist The group have come up with the new name for Friday Mahjong sounds really catchy to me. Thank you to our Friday Group in 2011, hope you enjoyed your morning enough to join us again in 2012. Hope all have had a safe and healthy festive season. Looking forward to the same in 2012. See you term 1, 2012. Remember if you dont use it, you lose it.

To retire with meaning & grace is not an automatic sequence after we leave our work/career. The course also applies to those of us who have not been in the workforce but are never-the-less getting inevitably older.
